Transport for London

Leading on consultation and investment planning with Network Rail for Crossrail 2.

Transport for London are responsible for the day-to-day to operation of the Capital's public transport network, managing London's main roads and planning and building new infrastructure.

TfL manage London's buses, the Tube network, Docklands Light Railway, Overground and Tramlink. They also run Barclays Cycle Hire, London River Services, Victoria Coach Station, the Emirates Air Line and London Transport Museum.

As well as controlling a 580km network of main roads and the city's 6,000 traffic lights, TfL regulate London's taxis and private hire vehicles and the Congestion Charge scheme.

To make sure their customers' journeys run as smoothly as possible, they invest in the latest technology so that it's easier to plan and make journeys. And they make all of their travel data freely available to other organisations, so they can create apps and maps as well.

All income is reinvested to run and improve services. This allows them to upgrade stations and bring in new trains, tubes and buses to continually improve capacity and reliability. They are making the biggest investment in a generation to improve roads and streets for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.
